The World Cup is less than a year away and England is in prime position in Europe Group F to win one of the coveted spots in the world’s biggest sporting event. Currently they are first in the group with 20 points, five ahead of their nearest competitor–Slovakia.
Against Slovakia on Monday, Rashford was caught a little too high up the field which led to Slovakia taking an early 1-0 lead off the foot of Stanislav Lobotka. But fair to say Rashford is hardly known for being a defensive stopper.
He made up for his error with a corner kick which Eric Dier put home to even it up. Then in the 59th minute when he broke the tie with an angled strike that found the back of the net. It maintained the unbeaten streak in World Cup qualifying for England and almost assures them a spot in Russia.
